The Money Race$$
I raced Des Moines World cup on Sunday, and felt 100 percent better, more myself in the hot conditions. And what an amazing race they put on.. 10 days previous half the city was underwater but they managed to move the entire race and everything ran perfectly. so thankfully they found uncontaminated water for us to swim in, so we didn’t have to do a duathlon..few. Had a good swim and with alot of American girls there we had a group away on the bike. solid run and I ended up 5th.

I will now stay here in the land of corn for a few weeks, do a bit of training til i go to Minneapolis for Lifetime Fitness Tri.

Take care, Liz.

Olympics ?!@#%??
So the Olympic Dream is over this time round for me:( Things didn’t go as planned in the old selection race… A bit of illness the week of the trial and then a bloody cold race just got the better of me) I have been named as the reserve for the team.

So next was Vancouver Worlds and I’m still hating the cold..!!! ahhh.. But got thru a good swim only to turn into a popsicle on my bike.

So Mother Nature is not loving me as it looks like Des Moines next weekend, my next big race, may become a duathlon as there has been flooding and tornados. Come on!!!!!!

O well, what does Rocky say.. "Its about still moving forward whilst taking the hits..?!" something corny like that.

Beautiful Byron Bay
I had a hit out on the weekend at the Byron Bay Tri. Byron Bay is a beautiful coastal town on the northern NSW coastline just 50 minutes from my training base on the Gold Coast. I had a great race and had a win. My good friend Bek Keat was 2nd. This was my second win at Byron, the last in 2003, and has been a nice little race to do before heading to Europe.

So on Wednesday I fly to the UK to get ready for the Madrid World Cup and World Champs in Vancouver.

Mooloolaba and New Plymouth
It has been so good to be back racing on the World Cup circuit again after all the ups and downs of the past year. Mooloolaba wasn't exactly the result I was looking for to start off the season, but I bounced back in New Plymouth to take 5th there to today.

I raced in Mooloolaba off a hard block of training and found I had no spark in my legs when I got off to run and ended up 17th. With an easier recovery week and travel to New Zealand for New Plymouth I had the legs to run well and finished 5th, almost 4th but got out sprinted by Ryf from Swiss.

It's now back into another solid block of training and getting ready for the Madrid World Cup and then Worlds in Vancouver.

Take care,
Liz
